[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Re: Question on starting programming
Hey- My personal opinion is that VB isn't really a gaming language. It can be made to work, but C/C++ is easier to use for the requirements of games programming. I learned C/C++ from books and 1 class at school, and then the rest of what I know (gaming wise) comes from research on the internet and this mailing list. A small piece of advice from me is make sure you know C/C++ like the back of your hand, because once you get into games programming, it takes all your concentration to figure out the advanced stuff and you don't want to have to stop and interrupt your train of thought to look up something relatively simple. Some good sites to go to for games programming info I've found are: http://www.gamedev.net http://www.gameprogrammer.co.uk Both of these have good documentation and source code with the examples they have. My webpage is http://vidgamez.iwarp.com/gameprog.html and it has some okay stuff that I've done. Good luck if your programming quest. -Brian >OK >I am really eager to do Computer Programming and become a games programmer. >I am 18 and in my last year of school over the last two and a bit years I >have been on and off trying to get into various languages such as c++, >Visual Basic and Basic. >But now i think I know what I am doing.
