RE: I'll start the ball rolling then

I know Direct X Seems impossible to learn from the start, but believe me,
its easier now than it ever was with versions 1 thourgh 3 :-). Start with
simple things, If you are used to dos programming, then just use it to
create a simple screen and then just lock the background, use the bufffer as
a normal screen would be in dos and start from there a bit. Else take it
one step at a time. Look on sites like www.flipcode.com, there is quite a
bit of info there. If you are looking into 2d stuff to start with, look at
hte IDirectDraw7 interface classes, directx 8 doesnt have 2d, without the
dx7 interface. DX 8 is mainly 3d.

Ok then, I'll start. I am a complete beginner with no knowledge of game
architecture or construction. There must be a few of us around? Can anyone
give some good advice as to how it all works? A particularly burning
question I have is to do with Directx. How the hell do you start with it?

cheers
