RE: Has anyone finished a game - When is a game finished

I finished several games professionally, and generally the thing that
dictates when its finished is when the deadlines and the publishers. Are
you thinking of trying to sell this game or just release it on the web? If
its the first, then take it to a publisher along with ideaas for
improvements and timescale to add the impr. they will say if they want it
and how what they want added. If its on the web then when you feel you have
a version that fun to play and you dont mind other people seeing, release
it, you can always post newer versions afterwards.

Subject: Has anyone finished a game - When is a game finished

Just recently someone on this list asked if anyone had finished a game. I
have a breakout clone that I may have finished. What I want to know are some
ways hobby game programmers (or professionals to be) decide when a game is
finished. On my breakout clone I've reached all my original goals for the
game but I still see lots of room for improvement. I think this is similar
for many games.

When do you stop improving one and move on to the next?

Jeff
