MASM question

Hi,

Can somebody tell me whether it is legal to redistribute Microsoft Macro
Assembler? According to my license agreement (I think it's MASM's
agreement) it is NOT, but I have found multiple copies of this program on
the Internet (and I am aware that license agreement on old programs
sometimes gets altered, at, which seem, legal sites. My friend is
interrested in this program, therefore I would like to know whether I
would be allowed to copy it for her, otherwise, which free assembler would
be able to assemble MASM code? The reason for this is: I'm writing a Basic
compiler (as I mentioned earlier), and it currently outputs MASM code (I
couldn't think of anything better, if someone could recommend something
better, that would be nice), and my friend would like to help me with
testing. So any suggestions? (I wouldn't want to violate copyright laws,
that wouldn't be very nice of a programmer, would it? :-) )
