DJGPP problems

A quick one here. I was trying to use the DJGPP compiler(I still have not 
been able to compile a C++ program to this day!) and I tried this:


gxx hello.c++

it gave me this error:

gcc.exe: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory 
(ENOENT)

I also typed in this by itself:

gxx

and it said this:

collect2: cannot find `ld'

What do these errors mean and how can I fix them if I can? Any(and I mean 
any as long as it deals with this subject) and all help is appreciated,
