i think you should look toward this site: http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/lua/
This is the official LUA script site.
LUA is an open-source scripting engine desinged for several things,
also including games.
To proof this is a good scrpting language here is an example of a game
that uses lua: Baldur's Gate...

I think it is worth a look...
