------------------------------------------------------------ GameProgrammer.Com: Getting Started: Just starting ------------------------------------------------------------ By Jim Corosa on Wednesday, September 6, 2000 - 03:33 pm: Hi, Firstly: To those of you on here who are trying to write games with no programming knowledge - get real!!! Game programming is the hardest form of programming! Learn the basics and then see if you are ready. Why do I say this so coldly? Because 90% of the people on this board are dreamers and will never accomplish anything because they are trying to do things *ss-backwords! You don't write a game and then learn how to program as you go along! The concepts are hard enough to grasp when you are an experienced programmer! Secondly: to Dave Coad: great plan, the students will definately enjoy game programming, however one thing that you must understand is that now adays games are usually 3-D and the math involved is very intense. I found that grade 12 was were alot of the concepts were beginning to be taught, when I was in high school. All you really need to do is get one book: "The Black Art of 3D Game Programming" by Andre' Lamothe. This book is written for all ages. ------------------------------------------------------------ DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE!
