Re: suggestions

The problem is that people just don't bother to RTFM! (Read The F***ing Manual)

I have the same problem in the computer suite that I'm the supervisor of. We have signs ALL over the place including on the door when you come in, you can't miss them. They usually state the obvious like no eating or drinking, no loading personal software, no games when people are waiting to use computers, and no porn.

But still, people don't bother reading them and all these things still happen, a lot. Keeps me busy...

It's the same with a mailing list. Have you also noticed all the messages with subject "unsubscribe" Please unsubscribe me from this list... All you have to do is read the bottom of any email sent to this list where there are very clear instructions.

It's not that people *can't* read, it's that they just don't bother.

Peace.

hey everyone-

I think this has been suggested before, but I'll give it another shot.

i think it would be easier on everyone, especially the people with slow
bandwidths if we created an FAQ of sorts including things like where to get
the DirectX SDK, what are some good tutorial sites, popular compilers to use
and where to get them, etc. This would (hopefully) stop lots of questions
about where to get DirectX (i know that I have personally seen quite a few)
and would free up lots of inbox space, etc. just something to consider.

also, i don't know how this could be implemented, but add something to the
subscribe screen that goes something like this:

"please do not use this list for spam or stupidity purposes. the purpose of
this group is to help anyone and everyone who wants to learn game
programming."

I don't know if it would do anything, but it would make it clearer so that
people know that this isn't just another list to spam.

okay, that's my $0.02 for today.
