>Just my opinion, but Windows is good-looking, but it's aweful inside >(besides, what's wrong with X? I think it's more flexible than Windows, >although I never programmed X programs). Just had to throw in my vigorous agreement here: X is far more flexible than the M$ GUI solution - that's cuz X is really just a linux app (OK, i'm oversimplifying, but it basically is), whereas the M$ GUI is part of their macrokernel. I would also like to point out that if you think windows is good looking, you should see Sawfish running over helix-gnome. Now there's a good looking GUI. The only complaint I could possibly have is that X windows sometimes fails to be as responsive as the M$ GUI (from the user point of view). That's a side effect of the fact that it's (basically) an application, and runs inside a normal linux process/thread-space. (although 99% of the time you wouldn't notice.) Cheers, Ben. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
