Hello!

Perhaps I didn't understand very well your question, but have you tried to use the MODE CO80 command? Sometimes this is very useful when you are using a monochrome VGA monitor. If you can't see the colors clearly, you can use the MODE MONO command, that will asume you have a 2 color monitor, wich may help in some programs.
