[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Re: THESE ARE QUESTIONS FROM A FUTURE GAME PROGRAMMER. PLEASE ANSWER IF HAVE TIME
Concerning whether Computer Science would be a great major for going into game
development: In general, it's a great course. But the part of a game you would
like to program as well as, to some extent, the actual curriculum of the course
will tell how great for you the course is in connection to game programming. For
example, if you are interested in making the AI part of a computer game, the
course will most probably give you a subject on AI that will give you not just
theoretical knowledge but even hands-on experience. If you would want to work on
the 3d graphics engine of a game, you would gain the theoretical background
needed for generating computer graphics but you might not get as much hands-on
experience (like me! : )). It could even be the reverse situation depending on
how the subjects are taught. These are things to consider when choosing which
college/university to go to to take the course.

5.) Depends, sometimes 9-5, sometimes 9-3am ;)
7.) Not Quite
9.) Computer Science would be a great major if you are going or plan to go
into game development.
