[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] RE: OFF TOPIC QUESTIONS SPOILING LIST
Ok already, I'm not going to lecture on how this subject has gotten out-of-hand, nor will I lecture about how we should "all just get along." What I am going to lecture about is the process of growing up. You see, we are all humans ( meaning social creatures ) and as such, we need to respect one another in ALL aspects. So someone has a question that doesn't necessarily pertain to the subject of this mailing list. I don't see that person as a problem, but rather a person who is resourceful. After all, we have all been in that boat (wanting to learn, and had to figure out where to get some answers). To put someone down simply because he/she decided to pool all his/her resources to get an answer to the problem is - well - you figure that one out. My point is it would be simple to tell the person where to find that information; maybe they don't know of the existence of that particular mailing list. Or, if you don't want to be bothered, simply delete the message. How hard can that be? We all put up with stuff from other people, right? The guy who flipped you off in traffic, and he was the one driving on the wrong side of the road...the manager that can't even tie his own shoelaces, yet has been assigned to run your department...the phone saleperson, who you haven't formally introduced to the dial tone - YET...and others. When you're dealing with a drunk that hit your loved one, and then found out that he has done the same thing twice already - thaen that's someone to be angry with. But a student who has asked a simple question? Where's the harm in that?
