Re: questions

Hi Chris... I'm an old student myself from CDI in Quebec city. Now I run
my own buisness in game industry.
You know, CDI college will teach you DataBase programming.. Game
programming is different. Here's my answers to your questions:

> Hi, my name is Chris Nobert and I go to CDI college in Edmonton, Alberta.

I write down an innovative idea. After, I have searched for investors who
could get interested with this project and got a good funding.

I choose the game industry because this is a career where everything is
moving fast. It's probably the most challenging and the most ON THE EDGE
about technologies and programming... And I love challenge!

I'm an artist too... and a well trained gamer.

> Do you enjoy what you do? What do you like the most? Least?

Sure I enjoy it! If you don't like it, the game you produce will suffer a
lot !!!

I like the challenge, the contact with the technologies, analysis and to
create a new world each time I design a game.

What I dislike is the time frame we must respect to satisfy investors who
don't have any interest about the quality of the production... They only
think about what they understand.. $$$ !!!

> Why would I want to get into this field?

Hum! If you choose the gaming industry, it's because you're a real fool!
(hehehe)... And probably you like to be that fool... Gaming industry is
the way to break limits and create new way of thinking...

> What do you do in a typical day?

Typical day? The typical day is that it's not typical... When you create a
new game project, you have everything to think about... one day is the
funding, the other is algo conception, coding, making new contact, take a
shower, eat pizzas, etc... Each day is very different, is depending on
your dev phase... Probably in the coding phase you'll code all night long!
(a trick to avoid the phone...)

No, their's no typical day... sorry...

> What is your role in the company?

I'm the president of Allegoria Productions. Actually I lead the programmers
as well for the project FAITH.

> What skills and personal qualities are necessary for this field?

Have a lot of imagination ! And you must like to solve problems... Be
patient and perseverant... Love pizzas.... You must be able to work with a
team and work under stress... Love games if you want to understand them
well... Have a lot of endurance.. and so on...

> What are the future plans for your company?

Hehehe, To expand... (general respond due to the nature of this question...
;-)..)

> What is the growth potential?

The ptential growth is equal to the quality of our publicities... ;-)

> Can you see your company excelling in the future?

We already excel in our domain.. ;-)

> Who else do you recommend I talk to?

Make a stage in a game prod Co...

> What are the typical hiring standards for a company like this?

You must fit with the team, are the best of the best and want to work a lot
of hours with a relatively low pay...
Smiles today is stronger than academic knowledge...

> What software applications, operating systems, languages do you use?

WinNT, Unix, MSVS6, BORLANDC++, MASM, JAVA, FILMBOX, 3DSMAX, LIGHTWAVES,
etc...

> What can I do to prepare myself for an interview?

Try to learn some concept about game programming... Boss like to know
they'll get a guy with some experiences... Try to learn how the buisness go
and how the dev work... Depending of the Co, DirectX or OpenGL knowledge is
well expected.

> Is your company hiring in the near future?

Always !
