[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Question: File size limitations.
Hi All, Not sure how much of an impact this has in game programming, but for some video clips I'm working on, I've kinda run into a problem with file size limitations. The Situation: - 30-40GB of drive space dump site for raw Video and Audio streams to be streamed into a file. (Later to be converted into Mpeg2 Video) - Would like to record long clips. The Problem: - 2GB file size limit on the filesystem I'm using. (Ext2 under Linux). (I think there is a similar limit under Window's filesystem, but not sure what's the actual number, if it differs from the 2GB limit.) The Question: What would be a good way of working around this limitation aside from just breaking up the file into smaller segments? Like say I'd like to record about an hour's worth of SVHS quality video and CD quality audio data and there just isn't a desire to break the clip. Any other filesystems which can support single files in excess of 2GB which would work under Linux? I realise the splitting of the file is the easiest solution, but would also like to know what other options exist.
