I am too lame

I apolagise for my undeniable stupidness but ive just started this
and im used to acorns.
First of all i got a program called rhide and managed to create a few
simple programs saying stuff with ease.  I tryed to make a sprite and got a 
tutorial but there were way too many errors in the code i found and even 
though i got it down to 2 it still wouldnt work.  I thought maybe direct X 
was possible and i cant even get it to run on my PC!
HELP ME please I know it may seem simple to you but im not as stupid as i 
sound
