Just remember, if you are gonna type
in the code from The Black Art...,(an excellent tome) you
have to use an older dos based compiler, Mr LaMothe mentions the ones he used
in the intro to the book. His code does not work with recent MS
compilers. If you are using a more current compiler I would suggest one
of his more recent books Windows Game Programing for Dummies
were he shows how to use, and get around Windows.

I'm making an RPG right now. First off. Do you have a fairly
good knowledge of C++? If you do, I recommend getting the book
"The Black Art of 3D Game Programming" by Andre Lamothe. Don't be
thrown by the name. The first 5 chapters are on 2D game
programming. It would help you. But if don't have a fairly
good understanding of pointers and object oriented programming, I
reccommend the books "C For Dummies" and "C++ For Dummies". These are
really good books and I stand by them! I own pretty much all of
the For Dummies C++ books and I love them!
