Well, I must say that this isn't true anymore. The new PIII Coppermine are
kicking Athlon ass, and at lower clock speeds. Their new cores offer
256 Kb L2 cache at the same speed as the processor clock (not 1/2 as
before).
And Intel has already launched their first 1GHz Coppermine PIII.
But I guess, that the best game developer platform isn't the one that offers
the
most performance. It should be a mid-range system. Developing games for/on
high-range systems may limit their acceptance in the low-range PC market,
because they may run too slow.
