Game Dev System

Ok ... quick question.. I'm almost ready to 
get my system, but I'm torn at the moment
btwn Athlon and PIII. 

The only reason I'm really torn, is the prospect 
of having a dual PIII system. 

So my question to you is.. have you used a dual
processor system, and how was the effect? 

I get the feeling that not too many games are
multi-threaded, and might not use the extra 
processor effectively, so I might not realize
a benefit from it, but as a side effect I do
multi-threaded client/server software for work,
so I could still benefit, but I really want to
target this system for game development, since its
my home system.

Whatcha think?
