I totally agree on your point that fixing camera angle/visual issues will help fix the problem. I'm not implying that 2D beats 3D or vice versa, but the trends of developers tacking 3D on everything simply so that the developer can say "Whateverthegamesnameis-3D" just bothers me. I am totally confident along with you that 3D is here to stay. You can't have a valid sim without it being 3D since most sims depict reality and of course, reality is 3D. But how many games can you have where you run around shooting demons? Maybe 3D DOES have potential- We're just too busy making  sims to realize it.
