RE: Side Scrollers and 3D..... Stay in your territories, please.

Well, I think what you are having problems with is the fact that we
currently don't have very good ways of controlling 3D movement. Game Play is
very dependent on the way the controls respond and 2D games control very
well and many 3D games. (FPS are an exception since they make such excellent
use of mouse and keyboard) Another interesting point one can make is that 2D
games actually are more beautiful to look at since they devote more resource
to pretty artwork. 3D games use up many of the resources that would normally
be devoted to colorful graphics. 3D game easily beat 2D games in realism
though. 3D is here to stay and I warn you the next great ground breaking
game in 3D will be the first non-FPS to find a good way to control movement
in 3D.

Hi There,

I would just like to say that I completely Agree with what your
saying. 3D games arent as great as they are hyped up to be. Dont get me
wrong, there are some good 3D games out there, but in most cases, it ruins
the game play. I think most 2D games were the best. RPG/Adventure games
are only good in 2D as are most other games. 3D is really not that
practical unless its an easy to play world. Until Virtual Reality games
become existent, 3D will be lacking in many areas I think. Virtual reality
would be the only way to give the player the actual feeling of being in the
game world like thr 2D ones did.
